Hybrid Events Really Get Going
After way too long behind screens, it is exciting to see hybrid events really coming to the fore this month with some large conventions happening in hybrid mode. The New Orleans Essence Festival showed off its virtual marketplace of sponsor and local products, the Black Hat USA security conference boasted 14,600 virtual attendees and hundreds of specialized sessions. Last but not least, technology company Avalara put together its own 18-neighborhood virtual city for its attendees to explore and interact with. These are just some of the many ways in which the hybrid revolution is moving us all forward, and with research showing nearly 50% of associates are planning hybrid events in 2021, we can expect much, much more to come.
Could Robots be the Answer to COVID Conscious Events?
As the event industry returns to full swing robots may play a larger part than you think. Between a desire to minimize in-person contacts and difficulty returning to pre-pandemic staffing levels, many companies are turning to robots as part of the solution. Servibot will soon be seen helping out at the Las Vegas Convention Center, while Knightscope has announced partnerships this year with several malls and airports to provide security services. While these units won’t replace dedicated human staff, it is hoped that they can help improve COVID safety and form a important part of customer service offerings in the future.
Report finds event planners could make better use of social media to promote events
Event Professionals are becoming more tech-savvy than ever, but still have plenty of room for improvement according to new research from Hubstpot and Constant Contact. Only 40% of those surveyed reported using social media to promote their events, as opposed to 76% using email. On the bright side, planners also reported using more than 5 different avenues of communication to promote their event, on average, showing the growing diversity of the industry.
