Briony is a powerhouse of organisation, with over 15 years’ experience creating corporate events all over the world. After graduating from the International College of Management in Sydney, Briony started at the bottom as an event coordinator and worked her way up through the ranks until she was the head of event operations for an agency in New York City! Back in Australia for the past few years, and now with two gorgeous little boys, Briony is ready to launch into the next exciting chapter of her career. We feel very lucky to have such an experienced and professional operator leading our Australian Operation.
A believer in unicorns and magic, Briony always brings that extra special something to an event. Laser-like attention to detail and always managing to look amazing are her secret weapons. We asked Briony a bit about this latest career move and her thoughts on the outlook for the future of the meetings and events industry. Here are her thoughts:
What is it about the Huddle brand that you think will resonate in the Australian market?
“It is the connection between technology and sustainability that will hit home most for Australians. Giving event managers the ability to truly measure their events not only financially but from a sustainable outcome as well is a game-changer. “
“In the new COVID market, Aussie event planners will also greatly benefit from the consolidated data management tools making their compliance more measurable and ultimately making their working lives significantly easier. What Aussie doesn’t want to work smarter rather than harder?“
What opportunities are you most excited about in the future?
“The exciting part of the next 12 months will be the level of innovative thinking that we are going to see as the events industry comes back online. We have created new connected workplaces across the globe, and this means that we no longer have to rely on local resources but will be focused on finding the right solutions and utilizing resources better wherever they are located around the world. It’s also super exciting for small agencies like Huddle who are agile, flexible, scalable and can move as fast as the world changes. “
What was the biggest thing you learned from your time working in the USA?
“I found in the US, our customers would often be so busy with their jobs that they didn’t have time to be heavily involved in the planning process for their event. They would partner with us to essentially hand over their program, completely entrusting its success to us as their event agency. This meant that I had to learn to truly embed myself into their brand to understand the creative and logistical direction they were looking for. The buck stopped with me, and more than ever, it was important that I knew, or could find out on my own, what the client needed to make their event a success. The opportunity to delve into this level of planning as well as taking on full ownership of a program has given me a far stronger strategic approach towards my work.“
