hello,

Welcome to the Huddle team’s roundup of destination and event venue sourcing info to help keep our clients and partners informed about what is happening in the dynamic global marketplace. From incentive destinations to convention spaces, we love helping organizations and meeting professionals find the perfect venue for their event requirements. In this November 2022 edition, we look at growing big-name brands, greener convention centers, Las Vegas renovations, and new developments in Salt Lake City

Wyndham’s Meetings Collection growing quickly

Wyndham’s ‘The Meetings Collection’ Rapid Expansion

Global hotel giant Wyndham has been undertaking an enormous expansion program for its events focused ‘The Meetings Collection’ brand. Consisting of only 7 properties in North America at their launch in 2021 there are now more than 160 located across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas.

One of the reasons cited for this rapid expansion was the benefit to planners and sourcing services from booking recurring or multi-year meetings in advance across its brands and destinations. This allows contract negotiations and requests for proposals to be streamlined and meetings programs consolidated, avoiding time-consuming venue finding delays.

Toronto Convention Centre Turns Green

Metro Toronto Convention Centre Turning Green

Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) has burnished its already impressive green credentials by announcing a series of measures designed to help reduce the environmental impact and improve the community impact of their operations.

These include the 100% locally sourced wine and bee, as well as 65% of all other food and beverage items, reducing transportation costs and supporting the local economy. Rooftop gardens and beehives to grow some of the herbs and vegetables used in the MTCC kitchens, while the beehives support the health of local ecosystems. Finally, the venue offers renewable power options to venue sourcing companies, ensuring all  power is sustainably sourced and putting green energy back in the grid for every kWh used.

Iconic Mandalay Bay Convention Centre Upgrade

Mandalay Bay Convention Center Undergoes Renovation

The Mandalay Bay Hotel is upgrading its convention center to better reflect the evolving tastes of consumers and the event industry, according to venue managers. As event planners and event management companies become more demanding in terms of technology offerings and connectivity, venues must respond and keep their offerings updated.

Mandalay Bay is putting its money where its mouth is and dropping $100 million on the remodelling project. Contemporary design elements, brighter lighting, streamlined and dynamic signage and seating nooks will be complemented by white-washed walls and bold floral patterns in coral and cerulean tones. Communications will be improved by a Cat6A Ethernet system, letting more attendees access better internet services.

Hyatt Debuts New Hotel in Salt Lake

Hyatt Debuts First Hotel Connected to Salt Palace

Salt Lake City is well known as one of the fastest growing regional hubs in North America. Despite this fact, hotel openings by major brands in the city are surprisingly rare, with the last development at scale being nearly 20 years ago. So we were excited to note Hyatt opening the Regency Salt Lake City, not only the first of its brand in UTah but the only hotel connected to the iconic Salt Palace Convention Center.

The property boasts 700 modern guest rooms and suites, along with more than 60,000 square feet of convention and meeting space. This includes the largest ballroom and largest rooftop space in town, as well as 21 breakout rooms, pre-function areas and a Broadcast Lounge.
