Meetingplay + Aventri rebrands as Stova
Meetingplay + Aventri are rebranding their new company as Stova. After the merger in January event tech heavyweights Meetingplay + Aventri acquired Eventcore in June. The new group will consolidate these three event technology trailblazers, designing comprehensive platforms and customized registration as well as a host of other tools for event management professionals.
The name ‘Stova’ references the ‘‘standing ovation’ they want their products to cause. As the sector deals with the challenge of contracting demand for virtual services from the highs of the pandemic and inflationary pressures on budgets we are all excited about what new innovations might follow for both in virtual and in person events.
New Certificate course from Event Leadership Institute uses Tech and Data to drive ROI
With inflation, supply chain disruptions and cost pressures rising across industries it is more important than ever to ensure organizations are getting the ROI they need. The meeting and events industry is no different, with the Event Leadership Institute recently announcing a new ‘Event Management and Analytics Certificate’.
The online course will focus on using data to measure success from a variety of stakeholder perspectives, from event attendees to trade show organizers and sponsors. It will also help event professionals use this information to guide their clients towards insights into performance and return on investment.

Cvent acquires VenueDirectory
Event Tech giant Cvent has acquired VenueDirectory, a UK-based site focused on venue booking. Operating since 1993, VenueDirectory is expected to provide Cvent with enormous data on the UK and global market to help inform their decision making and power their features. Although financials were not released, Cvent intends to continue operating VenueDirectory as a separate business unit.

As online and virtual events continue to grow, the Professional Convention Management Association has partnered with AC Forum to publish a new report to help educate event professionals and event organizers.
The report tries to clear up topics of confusion and give meeting planners a helpful checklist to stay on the right track with the latest event planning solutions. The data makes clear that in a modern world of facial recognition technology and powerful mobile devices, the bar for content and attendee engagement has been raised.
The report is the result of a survey conducted across a global network of event professionals and associations who have been conducting digital events over the last 15 months.
Covering everything from attendee engagement, mobile event apps, augmented reality, push notifications, artificial intelligence and more, we are excited to see what the rest of the industry has been up to.
More demand for Multilingual Meetings
Wordly, an interpretation platform powered by AI, has recently put out a report on the growth in demand for multilingual interpretation services for events. Based on the responses of more than 200 UK and US-based event professionals, the report.
Whether it is a virtual conference, hybrid event or in-person presentation, attendees being able to get the content you are providing in a language they are comfortable with can be the difference between an effective and an ineffective communication. According to the report, most corporate meetings and events have six or more languages being spoken, while a quarter have 11 languages. And with exciting new technologies offering real-time translation, we are optimistic about the value-add this could bring in the future.
