Huddle Agency’s mission is to reduce the environmental impact of corporate meetings and events. So, we are delighted to announce that we have signed the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge.
Since the Glasgow summit in November 2021, more industries have been coming up with their own ways of improving corporate sustainability and reducing greenhouse gases and other environmental impacts from their operations.
Net Zero Carbon Events is the program developed through the Joint Meetings Industry Council to help meet the requirements of the Paris climate agreement. We couldn’t be happier to be part of building a pathway to achieve net zero emissions for corporate events and collaborate with partners and suppliers to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
Signatory organizations are pledged to:
-
transmit our commitment to tackling climate change and reaching net zero emissions by 2050
-
cooperatively develop methodologies for measuring the greenhouse impact of meetings and events
-
build industry-wide plans towards meeting the requirement to reduce global emissions in line with the Paris Agreement
-
collaborate with suppliers and customers to drive common approaches and cooperation on these crucial issues.
-
create methods of reporting progress to share best practice across the industry.
JMIC hopes this effort will link stakeholders from destination communities, professionals, academics, and corporate organizations that are committed to doing their part to reach net zero by 2050 at the latest. We hope that as more partners join, we can make blazing this new trail towards sustainability easier for each-other through cooperation.
There are already a host of organizations who were part of the initial task force supporting the initiative, including peak bodies like UFA, AIPC, ICCA and others. We couldn’t be happier to be part of this exciting new development in the meeting and events space.
